What I love about taking family photographs is that each session is different, dependent on the family I meet. I don’t like to tell everyone that they have to meet in the same park and do the same pose. I want them to be a part of the planning process and to give me as much in put as possible. With the Zetner family it was so great because they had this awesome caravan all ready to go in their backyard!

I have to say, sometimes not everyone wants to take photos. Olin just wanted to play and hang out, plus Dad was playing his ukulele!

Rosalia + Jamie Love in the Rain | Vancouver Family Photographer

What do you do when it rains on the day of your photo session? Well first you remember that you live in Vancouver and then you have a warm lunch at Bergoo and head out into the ran and cherry blossoms! That’s what Rosalia Jamie and I did and I must say the rain added a little character to the photos.

Poppy and her books | Vancouver Family Photographer

Poppy is six months old and I just love every time I get to see her! The weather forcast on our photo session day was for rain {not surprising in Vancouver} so I did make back-up plans to use the Chapters downtown. I love this location with it’s big glass windows over looking Robson and Howe and the colourful pieces in the children’s area. Well, the sun did come out but we did stop in and look at a few books because if you remember from Poppy’s newborn session she has a little library in her own room so she loves to look at books, I know she’s going to be quite the reader! I loved her scarf she was very proudly wearing, this family has style. I’m so lucky all my growing up baby families have so much style!!

Look at all of those books to read when Poppy grows up!

Can’t wait to see you guys in three months!!

Ewan is 3-Months Old | Vancouver Family Photographer

Ewan has turned three-months old and we had a gorgeous Spring day for photos. I can already see the bond forming between Ewan and big brother Finn. It’s great to see some of the similarities between the brothers in Finn’s three-month shoot here.

Okay Finn looking over the crib? Yeah adorable. And I think that happens a lot and Ewan just looks at him and smiles or giggles.

Backyard jumpy castle? YES!!!

Ahhhhh brothers! Jenny, when they are fighting show them these photos!!

I love how clear Ewan’s eyes are! You can see the reflection of the sky and me in them!

Okay, I know Ewan is about to lose it in this photo but I just love this image!

Can you really go wrong with a mustache and aviators on a baby? I don’t think so.

Phizzy Juice || Vancouver Photographer

So if you know me you know that I love music. It gets us through good and bad days, rush hour traffic, long hours working on the computer and best of all makes you dance. I love when you look back on the years of your music and you can remember where you were or who you were with just by a song. Music is such a powerful thing. You might also know that I come from a pretty tight family. You know the one, camping trips, Christmas dinners and performing in the Summer lip sync at our family BBQ. What now not everyone does that? We did, for many many years, it actually got so popular that we had to move from our backyard to a rented hall!

Well I’m so happy that I get to say my cousin Danny who was an alumni of the “Air Heads” our lip syncing caravan of entertainment is now using a real microphone and performing for reals. A bunch of us {yes a family outing} went to see him at Falconetti’s a few weekends ago and he was amazing. My favourite was when he started and said, “You all ready for some Coquitlam Hip Hop?” Seriously, check out the video below, Phizzy Juice has a facebook page, give them a like to keep up with them and where they are playing. Go see them live, this isn’t just a cousin talking, you’ll want to see them in a small venue before they make it big and you wish you had listened to me!! Proud of you cuz!

Best Friends | Vancouver Family Photographer

When I look back on my photos with friends I have some pretty rad ones. Maybe because I have a camera with me at all times and because my friends know me well enough to pose all the time for photos. I think photos with your friends all through your life are just as important as family photos. I’ll let you know how I met these two great ladies below. I was hired by Jenny {on the left} to photograph her wedding to her hubby Jerry in 2009. Their wedding took place at their friends beautiful house in North Van, Sheryl {on the right} and Oliver. Then I was asked to photograph Jenny’s first baby, Finn and now thier second Ewan. I’ve seen Sheryl over the years and she’s also created beautiful one of a kind knitted baby hats for me to use in my newborn sessions.

Anyway, back to best friends! Jenny and Sheryl have been great friends and it shows. I took a few photos of them when I was taking Ewan’s three-month photos. I love creating images for families and for weddings, with summer coming maybe you should plan a session at the beach or at your old high school with some of your besties. Welcome little Élianna | Vancouver Family Photographer

Fun with Skarlett and Cullen | Vancouver Family Photographer

This is why I love letting kids play and have fun during photo sessions. I have photos of my sister and I when we were really young taken in a studio, probably the Bay or Sears, and they don’t show our personality. Kids are told to sit still and you can’t run around and play, with me they are encouraged to have fun! I want to be able to capture your children’s personality, their smiles and giggles I want you {and them} to look back on these images and remember their childhood and what fun they had growing up.

Two of my little favourites, Skarlett and her brother Cullen, hung out with me for a little bit in their backyard. I wish all of my photos came with sound because to hear Skarlett giggling is just awesome!

Oh and believe it or not, I did not “photo enhance” Cullen’s blue eyes! He’s going to be a heart breaker I can see it now!
