A great opening night to Vancouver Fashion Week on Thursday, March 20th. We saw shows from local and international designers : EIK Designs, Mirae Kim, Emily Hart, QiQee by Kidde Itto, Pandora, Papillion, Nikki Babie and Shelley Klassen of Blushing Boutique.

It’s such a great day to spend photographing little Poppy and hanging out with mom Justine. Poppy turned three months old and she’s growing up! I’m loving her big blue eyes and during this session she discovered her tongue which I have to say was pretty adorable!

I’m so excited to introduce Ewan to you. I know most of you will remember Finn, he was my very first lil’ one who was a growing up baby graduate, now he’s a big brother and maybe he’ll share his collection of cars and trucks with his new brother!
So many thanks to my friend Sheryl, and BFF of Mom Jenny, for creating so many newborn accessories for me.
This gorgeous hat is just one of them.

I love my newborn sessions. This is when I’m jealous of parents, being able to watch their lil’ ones, it’s like a new tv show and watching them while they are sleeping, oh I could do that all day. But then they cry and I get to say, “peace out!”
I think Ewan and Finn have quite a few similarities as newborns, it’s going to be great to compare their sessions as Ewan grows over this year.

Here in British Columbia we are blessed with beautiful picturesque scenery and every winter we get some pretty cool visitors from the north. The Snowy Owls live and breed in Alaska and the Yukon but have been finding their way down to Delta for the last few years because the food up north has been dwindling. The Snowy Owls are only here during the winter months but the Short Eared Owl can be seen all year round.
We ran into a guy who was in just for the weekend from NY, he heard about the owls and wanted to shoot them, well not shoot them, photograph them! It goes to show that we should not take our nature and animals for granted, we should get out enjoy them both and if you have a camera take a few photos!

Two Snowy Owls just chillin’
The wing span, even on the smaller Short Eared Owls, is just awesome.
Okay I’m not a birder, but I think these are Starlings. The ones that are all together then take off in a huge cloud, do what looks like some air show flying tricks, then land. Ohhhh Ahhhh!
The closer to dusk it gets the more yellow the owls eyes get. So it’s important not to get there too early and to dress warm!

Remember when you were little and your parents gave you a special treat? I remember going over to my Grannies and wondering what she had baked that day because I knew she would sneak us some cookies or a piece of her lazy daisy cake! Well this was such a cute moment with Berkeley when he got to taste his very first hot chocolate, on a winter day it’s just what was needed!
With Berkeley’s big blue eyes I see a future heart breaker in the making.
