WHAT IF IT RAINS?

We try to wait until the day of your session to call a session off, since Vancouver weather has been known to change so quickly! I’ll call you to discuss the options, which might include waiting for a few hours, or even a few days. I can change the plan a bit too, taking photos in your house is great for the kids. Their toys and games are there and they feel comfortable. I love shooting with natural light so if you have a large window that will be perfect!  If you haven’t heard from me, assume your session in still a go!

HOW MANY POSES WILL WE DO? HOW MANY PICTURES WILL YOU TAKE?

There’s no easy answer to either question, as the flow of the session really depends on the people involved! I try not to do too many formal “poses,” but rather have a fun time together, playing different games or sit down for little conversations, anything to take the kids’ minds off the camera! I do stop at times and set up group or individual portraits, but I try to keep it as natural and fluid as possible. Have a specific shot in mind? No problem! Just please let me know at the time of booking.  I won’t guarantee a duplicate shot, as my specialty are candids, but the odds definitely increase if I can plan ahead for a certain photo.

CAN WE SEE EVERY. SINGLE. PICTURE?

Um, no. Trust me, it’s for your own good! First I weed out the obvious rejects…closed eyes, awkward positioning, unflattering angle, etc. Then I also narrow down very similar images to pick the very best, otherwise you would be completely overwhelmed and order selection would be excruciatingly hard!

CAN WE CHANGE CLOTHES?

You’re welcome to bring a second set of clothes to change into during the session. However, I can’t make clothing promises (especially with little ones)!  I recommend you start in the outfits you like the most and keep the extras as a possibility.

WHAT IF MY KIDS ARE NOT IN THE MOOD?

We’ve all been there… I think it’s Murphy’s Law of parenting, the more you need them to behave, the more they act like little monsters!  No worries, the best thing for you to do is stay calm and let me take over. I promise, a little distraction and a few silly faces and most kids can be channeled back on track.  Threats and angry words from mom & dad have yet to make a kid relax and smile…trust me! I may need to pull the kids away from you for at least a little bit, and please know this is not personal. It’s just a fact of life – Most kids just listen better and, most importantly, act more natural, when they are alone.

WE SURVIVED THE SESSION! WHAT’S NEXT?

First: Yay! Now comes the fun part! In a few days, look for a sneak peek from your session right here on Facebook. I will be in touch within the next two weeks to schedule your proofing session and give you the link and password for your online gallery, where you can view your full session over and over, share with friends and family, and start to narrow down your favourites!

WHEN & HOW DO WE PAY?

Please be prepared to make payment for your collection at the time you book with me. I will send you an invoice which can be paid through PayPal. This way you can use any credit card you wish. I can accept cash, cheque, or bank to bank transfers. I do have payment plans, so we can chat about that option.

WE BOOKED…HOORAY! WHEN WILL THE PRINTS BE READY?

Finished portraits will be delivered to you within 2-3 weeks of placing an order. Canvases, storybook albums, and other personalized products require additional time. We’ll be happy to give you a delivery estimate – just ask before ordering!

I WANT TO ORDER, BUT CAN’T MAKE UP MY MIND NOW. CAN I CALL YOU NEXT MONTH?

Original files of each ordered image will be kept on file for one year following your purchase. Unordered images will be deleted after 30 days. Please contact me if you have a special situation and would like an extension, but in order to maintain prompt service and workflow for all of my clients, I need to process all orders in a timely manner.

Above all, expect to have a fun, have a lot of laughs, and a relaxed session while we capture special moments. I’ll handle the details… you just have to show up and smile!
