My Style is Simple…
Real smiles. Real emotions. Real laughter. Real life. At every family portrait session I photograph, my strive to capture more than just how you look. My goal is to tell a story…the story of your family. Who you are today, right now, in this moment.
Silly three year olds are allowed {and encouraged!} to be silly. Moody teenagers are never asked to say cheese. I believe that children photograph best when they are free to explore and play. Don’t want to pose in front of the fireplace? Good, because I’m not planning on asking you to!
Family portraiture has come a long way in the last few years and there’s nobody more excited about it than I. So relax, let the kids pick out their own outfits, be yourselves and let’s have a blast!
I’ve been a graphic designer since 1997 and a photographer all my life. I remember being the only kid in elementary school having a camera… A 110 camera (that should tell my age range).
Twilight is my favourite time of day and I will always wish on a star in the night sky.
On my bucket list are: Ride in a hot air balloon. Go on a stargazing date. Throw a dart at a map and travel to wherever it lands. Learn how to snowboard…again. Photograph a NFL game.
I whistle like my Grandpa. It’s a family secret.
My favourite thing about the sunshine is I get freckles on my face. I call it a tan.
I’ve been a pirate, brown bear, moose, polar bear, dragon, and geisha, seen a baby crocodile in the wild and wondered, “Where’s its mom?” I had to walk through grass waist high in the Panama Canal only to stop and watch the grass continue to move with rainbow coloured lizards around my feet. Ahhhh good times.
I have a degree in journalism, which I think helps in my sessions, as I’m always looking to tell the story, not just capture what you look like. I’ve been documenting my life and friends in photos since I could hold a camera, and am beyond blessed to be able to do the same for others. I’m a Nikon and a mac girl. My favourite lens would be my 35mm, I like to walk around and find different light and angles instead of relying on a zoom lens all the time.
